Malgorzata Wal is a contemporary, imaginative painter who currently lives and works in her native Krakow, Poland. Her imaginative portraits contrast bold colors with fractured faces, opening a fractal dialogue between the whimsical and mysterious sides of the feminine. Wal draws on her love for quaint and colorful design, on her years living in Paris, as well as inspiration from Frida Kahlo, Lucienne Smagala, Maggie Piu and Japanese manga. She playfully merges traditional acrylic painting techniques with acrylic pouring and other unconventional media to reveal the youthful, free-spirited sparkle of life within the ordinary person. Her artwork has been shown privately and at auctions in Poland and the United States.
